The True Post — Iran’s Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi has said that 19 people were killed and 108 others injured in US strikes carried out across several provinces between Monday and Tuesday night.
According to the Iranian health minister, civilians were among those affected by the attacks. A wedding ceremony was also reportedly hit, killing five people, including a woman and a child, while 65 others were injured.
Wedding Ceremony Hit
Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi said the victims were attending a wedding ceremony when the attack took place.
He said five people were killed and 65 others sustained injuries in the incident.
Iranian officials described the incident as one of the most serious attacks in recent weeks. The health minister said the strikes were among the most intense carried out by the United States following a 40-day war.
Attacks Reported in Several Areas
According to Iran’s health minister, the US strikes extended across several provinces, affecting civilians as well as security personnel.
Pezhman Shahrokhi, president of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, said six of those injured in an incident in the mountainous area of Sirik were being treated in intensive care, while 26 injured people had been admitted to surgical departments.
He said medical treatment was continuing and that seriously injured patients were being kept under specialised medical supervision.
Seven Killed in Khuzestan
Iranian officials said several locations in Ahvaz and Agha Jari in Khuzestan province were also targeted.
Authorities said seven people were killed and eight others injured in the attacks. One of those killed was identified as a member of the public security forces.
The injured were transferred to local medical centres, where they were receiving treatment.
Revolutionary Guard Personnel Killed
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also confirmed the deaths of some of its personnel in the US strikes.
According to the Revolutionary Guard, four personnel affiliated with its Aerospace Force were killed in Kermanshah province.
Iranian authorities said security facilities and other important sites were also damaged in the attacks, although details about the extent of the destruction in different areas were still emerging.
Three Basij Members Reportedly Killed on Lavan Island
Reports said three members of Iran’s Basij forces were also killed following a US attack on Lavan Island.
Details released by Iranian authorities indicated that both civilians and members of various Iranian security institutions were affected by the latest strikes.
Further Casualties Feared
Iran’s Health Ministry said medical teams were continuing to treat people injured in the attacks, while critically injured patients were being cared for in intensive care units.
