The British Foreign Secretary says that starving children in Gaza are being targeted. In a joint statement, these countries described Israel’s aid delivery method as dangerous, saying that it is a slow delivery of aid and an inhumane killing of civilians seeking help to provide water and food. The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza said that more than 100 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire while waiting for food during the week and 19 people died from hunger-related diseases. According to the British news agency, the statement strongly condemned Israel’s war strategy in Gaza, which has been ongoing with Hamas for the past 21 months.

The foreign ministers of the countries that signed the statement include the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, New Zealand and Switzerland. The statement said that an immediate end to the war in Gaza is necessary and warned that the suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new levels. The Israeli government’s method of delivering aid is dangerous, it fuels instability and dehumanizes the people of Gaza. The joint statement of 28 countries said that “we condemn the slow delivery of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, who are seeking help for the basic needs of water and food.” It is a heartbreaking fact that more than 800 Palestinians have been martyred trying to access aid. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy later said in the House of Commons that children dying of hunger in Gaza are being targeted.
