The robbery took place when the mall was still open to the public. On weeknights it often closes at 9:30. Yorkdale said in a statement that no employees or customers were injured in the incident.
One of the suspects police are looking for was wearing a black cap, black face mask, black sweater, black backpack, brown pants and white shoes, the other, who is believed to be five feet eight inches tall, was wearing black. was wearing a hooded sweater, white jacket, black pants and black shoes, the third man was wearing a black jacket, pale blue jeans and black shoes.
Toronto Fire says they received a call from police about items lying around the Yorkdale mall causing obstructions, but no such items were found. Fire officials have not confirmed whether the call was related to the robbery. The matter is being investigated.
