Montreal’s Automated Metro Faces Six-Week Shutdown, Disrupting Commuters

The True Post(Web News)Starting this Saturday, Montreal’s Réseau express métropolitain (REM) will undergo a full six-week closure between downtown Montreal and Brossard on the South Shore. The shutdown scheduled until August 17—is necessary for comprehensive testing ahead of expansion to the Deux-Montagnes and Anse-à-l’Orme branches ۔

. During that time, shuttle buses will bridge key stations, Exo commuter trains will increase service to Angrignon and Longueuil terminals, and transit leaders are advising telecommuting and off-peak travel to ease pressure on the system

Commuters Express Frustration Over Increased Travel Times

Riders have voiced strong concerns over the extended shutdown, describing the situation as “very frustrating” and lamenting longer, more complicated commutes that now involve transfers to buses
