Speaking to the media along with the party leadership in Karachi, Mustafa Kamal said that the order to kill Dr. Imran Farooq was given by MQM founder Altaf Hussain. Mustafa Kamal claimed that Imran Farooq, who served the party for almost four decades, was killed on his birthday. According to him, the incident that took place on September 17, 2010, was actually a planned murder, which the MQM founder carried out out of his personal ego and fear. He said that Imran Farooq’s sacrifice was turned into a birthday gift.
The federal minister alleged that the MQM founder is a dramatic figure who resorted to show and spectacle not only during Imran Farooq’s life but also after his death. He said that an appeal was made to collect donations on the issue of Imran Farooq’s body and the same practice was repeated after the death of his wife.
According to Mustafa Kamal, a fundraising campaign was launched once again on the death of Imran Farooq’s wife, even though the MQM founder had a large amount of money personally. He said that millions of pounds were recovered from party offices and personal residences, but despite this, practical help was not provided to the family. He added that after the murder of Imran Farooq, his family was not kept in constant contact, which is proof that everything was just a show. Mustafa Kamal challenged the MQM founder to cooperate in reopening the murder case if he is innocent, and he is ready to help in this process in his personal capacity.
At the press conference, Mustafa Kamal said that he himself was present at the funeral prayer of Imran Farooq and he saw with his own eyes how the media insisted on taking pictures for coverage, even though cameras were not allowed in the mosque. He called the founder of MQM a traitor to the Muhajir nation and said that in four decades, the lives of countless people were ruined by this politics. According to him, the man who could unite millions of people at one time with one voice never waged a real constitutional struggle, although if he had wanted, important constitutional reforms could have been possible years ago.
Mustafa Kamal also claimed that the British investigative agencies knew from the beginning who was behind the murder of Imran Farooq, which is why the children were kept in protective custody in the initial days. He said that today Imran Farooq’s children have become young and they have the right to take legal action against their father’s murder. The federal minister said that he warns Imran Farooq’s children to be careful in London and approach the court to investigate their father’s murder. He said that he is ready to provide all possible cooperation in this case so that the real facts can come out. He further said that he is not saying all this for just one ministry, but if the voice is not raised in favor of the people, then such a ministry is cursed. Mustafa Kamal alleged that the founder of MQM caused irreparable damage to Karachi and migrant politics and pushed the nation back decades.
In response to a question, Mustafa Kamal said that how can the murderer himself tell who did the murder, history is being distorted and the truth is being denied. He said that this is just the beginning and more facts will come out with time. At the end of the press conference, Mustafa Kamal said that the person who has harmed this city, now it is time to bring his character before the public. He expressed his determination that Karachi will be put on the path of development and peace again.
