Packard’s Outstanding Performance, Oilers Defeat Jets

(Web News) The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Winnipeg Jets thanks to Calvin Packard’s brilliant goalkeeping.

Packard played a decisive role in his team’s victory by stopping a total of 41 shots in the match played at the Canada Life Centre on Monday. After the victory, the Oilers improved their performance this season and won their fourth victory in the last six games. Max Jones, Jake Roslovic and Zach Hyman scored for the Oilers in the match, while Hyman’s goal was in the empty net shortly before the end of the game. Connor McDavid provided an assist on the goal, with which his points streak reached 13 games, in which he has so far scored 13 goals and 20 assists.
Adam Lowry scored the lone goal for the Winnipeg Jets, which was also his 800th NHL game. The Jets took 42 shots in the entire match, which was their record for the most shots this season, but they were unable to break Packard’s wall. The Jets also had three power-play opportunities but failed to score. The Oilers, on the other hand, converted their only power-play opportunity into a win, when Roslovic scored in the second period to give them the lead. Lowry’s goal in the third period made the game exciting for a while, but Hyman’s empty-net goal ended Winnipeg’s hopes of a comeback.
With the victory, Packard’s record is 4 wins, 5 losses and 2 overtime losses. The Oilers will now take on the Boston Bruins on Wednesday, while the Jets will open their three-game road trip against the Detroit Red Wings.
