Gilgit-Baltistan Election 2026 Preparations Completed, Section 144 Imposed in Diamer for Security


According to election officials, thousands of polling staff have been deployed across 24 constituencies to ensure a transparent and well-organized electoral process. The election workforce includes returning officers, assistant returning officers, presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, and other supporting staff.
Authorities stated that more than 7,500 officers and employees assigned to election duties will receive a total honorarium of 276 million rupees. Separate financial incentives have also been allocated for different categories of officials to encourage their participation and ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process.
Officials further explained that distinct honorariums have been set for returning officers, assistant returning officers, presiding officers, and other polling staff, with millions of rupees allocated overall for election personnel.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Diamer has issued an order imposing Section 144, which will remain in effect for 60 days.
According to the order, the display of weapons, aerial firing, use of firecrackers, and the flying of drones or unmanned aerial vehicles without permission have been completely banned. Permission from the district magistrate will be mandatory for operating drones.
The administration stated that these measures have been taken to ensure peace, security, and the safety of citizens during the electoral process, and strict legal action will be taken against violators.
