Iran–Israel Tensions Escalate, Iraq and Syria Close Airspace

The True Post (Web News) Following recent tensions between Iran and Israel in the Middle East, Iraq and Syria have decided to close their airspace.

According to foreign and regional sources, in the wake of the latest attacks, both countries have imposed a ban on civil and commercial flights to ensure the safety of passengers and air traffic. Iraq has issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) closing its airspace for 72 hours. During this time, all commercial flights arriving in, departing from, and overflying Iraq will be suspended.

According to NOTAM, the ban will come into effect from Sunday, June 7, 2026, and will remain in place for three days. Similarly, Syria has also imposed a ban on overflying and flights in its airspace in view of the ongoing tense situation in the Middle East and warnings from global aviation authorities. Flights arriving and departing from Damascus Airport will be completely closed after 10 pm. Similar restrictions are in place at Baghdad Airport. According to the report, the airspace of Syria and Iraq has been completely closed for the past 13 hours.

Experts say that the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel in the region and air strikes have increased pressure on the air transport sector, and these restrictions could create difficulties for passengers. International aviation organizations have advised passengers and airlines to get the latest information about their flight schedules for safety reasons.
