Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian Arrives in Pakistan on One-Day Official Visit

 The True Post (Web News) President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Peshkeshian arrived in Pakistan on a one-day official visit, where he was warmly welcomed.

The Iranian president’s special plane landed at Nur Khan Airbase in Islamabad, where President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with federal ministers and senior officials welcomed the distinguished guest. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari were also among those who welcomed the distinguished guest.

A special reception was held in honor of the Iranian President upon his arrival in Pakistan, in which children dressed in traditional attire presented him with bouquets, while the distinguished guest was welcomed with a gun salute. On this occasion, Pakistan Air Force fighter jets also presented an aerial salute, reflecting the close ties between the two brotherly Islamic countries.

 

 The plane on which the Iranian president arrived in Pakistan is named “Minab”, which is named in memory of the children who were martyred in an attack on a school in Iran. According to Iranian officials, one of the main purposes of President Peshkerian’s visit to Pakistan is to appreciate Pakistan’s efforts to reduce tensions between Iran and the United States and promote diplomatic relations.

 

Sources say that the Iranian President will meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his visit to thank him for his constructive diplomatic role. Bilateral relations, regional situation, trade, border cooperation and other issues of mutual interest are also expected to be discussed in detail during this visit.
