Reports have emerged of Saudi fighter jets carrying out airstrikes in several parts of Yemen following a series of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi-led coalition has not yet officially confirmed the reported airstrikes in Yemen.
According to media outlets linked to the Houthis, Saudi warplanes targeted several areas in the Yemeni provinces of Marib, Al Jawf and Taiz. Houthi television reported that Saudi aircraft carried out attacks at multiple locations, while Saudi forces also reportedly conducted operations in border areas.
Multiple Airstrikes Reported in Marib and Al Jawf
According to the reports, five airstrikes were carried out in the Khab wa ash Sha’af district of Al Jawf province.
Ten additional airstrikes were reportedly conducted in the Sirwah area of Marib province.
Houthi sources also claimed that five airstrikes targeted the Al-Barah area of Taiz province.
In addition, reports emerged of Saudi forces carrying out bombardments in the border district of Ghamr in Saada province in northern Yemen.
Houthi sources have claimed dozens of Saudi attacks across several areas. However, the reports have not been independently verified, and Saudi authorities have not immediately issued an official statement confirming the specific airstrikes.
Tensions Rise After Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia
The reports of Saudi airstrikes come after the Houthis launched a series of missile and drone attacks against southern areas of Saudi Arabia.
Recent reports said Houthi attacks targeted areas including Khamis Mushait, Abha, Najran and Jazan.
Saudi authorities said the attacks injured 73 people, while some energy facilities were also damaged and fires were reported at several locations.
Following the attacks, Saudi Arabia made clear that it would take measures to defend its territory and critical infrastructure.
Reports of subsequent Saudi air operations in Yemen have further increased tensions in the region.
Security Alert Issued in Khamis Mushait
Saudi Civil Defence also issued a warning alert in Khamis Mushait as the country’s southern regions came under attack.
According to the latest reports, the security alert in Khamis Mushait was later lifted.
The city hosts Saudi military facilities and has been among the areas targeted by the Houthis during recent attacks.
Escalation After Four-Year De Facto Truce
The latest clashes and reported airstrikes have raised concerns that Yemen’s long-running conflict could once again escalate into a major confrontation.
In 2022, an informal truce was established following United Nations-led efforts, significantly reducing large-scale direct fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
However, growing regional tensions in recent weeks have once again brought Yemen’s conflict into focus.
The latest developments are also raising concerns over regional security and the safety of critical maritime routes in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Any major military escalation could disrupt energy shipments and international trade passing through the region.
Uncertainty Over Saudi Operations
For now, Saudi Arabia has not officially confirmed the latest reported airstrikes in Yemen, while Houthi-linked sources continue to report attacks by Saudi forces.
The statements issued by both sides and developments on the ground over the coming days will determine whether the latest escalation remains limited to retaliatory strikes or develops into a broader military confrontation in Yemen.
