Date: September 21, 2026 The True Post (Web News) —LAHORE — Two more sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, have been detained for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance in Lahore.
Their detention came a day after their sister, Aleema Khan, was also detained under the same law and shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The latest action comes ahead of PTI’s announced September 27 protest and march towards Islamabad, which the party says is aimed at demanding Imran Khan’s release and pressing its political and constitutional demands.
Uzma and Noreen Detained Under MPO
According to the Lahore Deputy Commissioner’s office, detention orders for Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi were issued on September 20 following a recommendation from the police.
The order placed the two women under preventive detention for 30 days and directed that they be held at Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat.
The authorities cited concerns relating to public safety and the maintenance of public order.
The detention order also alleged that the two women had previously been involved in protests and had encouraged workers to damage public and government property. It further alleged that they were mobilising workers through social media and public meetings ahead of the planned demonstrations.
These allegations are contained in the administrative detention order and represent the authorities’ stated grounds for the action. (Dawn)
Late-Night Police Operation
The detentions reportedly followed a late-night police operation at the residence of Aleema Khan in Lahore.
According to reports, Uzma and Noreen were taken into custody along with some other family members. Children and other relatives who were also briefly detained were later released.
The two sisters were subsequently transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail. Reports said they were moved to the jail at around 2am.
A lawyer representing the family also confirmed that Aleema Khan’s sons, Shershah Khan and Shahrez Khan, were later released after their brief detention. (Geo News)
Aleema Khan Was Detained First
The latest detentions followed the arrest of Aleema Khan in Lahore on Sunday.
The Lahore Deputy Commissioner had ordered her detention or arrest for 30 days under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960.
Police sources confirmed that Aleema was taken to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
According to reports, she was detained after leaving her residence in Lahore. Her vehicle was subsequently taken to Lytton Road police station.

What Is Section 3 of the MPO?
Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance allows authorities to order preventive detention when they believe an individual’s activities could pose a threat to public order or public safety.
In the case of Uzma and Noreen, the Lahore administration cited concerns about potential disruption of public order and alleged mobilisation linked to upcoming protests.
