He said Tehran has clearly outlined its conditions for a diplomatic settlement and has presented a proposal for negotiations if the United States is genuinely interested in reaching an agreement and pursuing a peaceful resolution.
Iran Awaits US Response
Speaking before departing New York for Tehran, Araqchi said Iran’s position had been conveyed to the American side through discussions facilitated by Qatar.
He expressed hope that Iran would receive the White House’s response through mediators on Tuesday. According to Araqchi, the primary objective of the Iranian delegation was to communicate Tehran’s conditions to the United States and inform the international community that Iran had a clear plan for resolving the current situation.
Iran Says It Has Presented a Solution
Araqchi described Iran’s proposed conditions as fair and logical. He said that if Washington genuinely wanted an agreement or a peaceful settlement, Tehran had already presented a path forward through negotiations.
The Iranian foreign minister’s remarks indicate that Tehran considers Washington’s next response important in determining the future direction of diplomatic engagement.
Araqchi Rejects Claims of Flexibility on Nuclear Programme
Araqchi also rejected speculation that Iran had become willing to show flexibility regarding its nuclear programme.
He said various claims and reports about Iran had circulated in the media over the preceding hours, but maintained that Tehran’s position had not changed.
Araqchi stressed that Iran had not revised its fundamental stance. He also said Tehran’s conditions concerning the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remained clear.
Strait of Hormuz Remains a Key Issue
The Strait of Hormuz has emerged as an important issue in the current diplomatic situation. Following reports that Iran had set conditions for reopening the waterway, the matter has also become part of indirect discussions between Washington and Tehran.
Iran has indicated that any progress concerning the Strait of Hormuz cannot be considered separately from broader negotiations and its other demands.
The waterway therefore remains among the issues that could shape the next phase of diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
Visit to New York
Araqchi travelled to New York alongside Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior diplomats to attend the United Nations General Assembly session.
According to Araqchi, meetings and diplomatic contacts during the visit provided Iran with an opportunity to present its position directly to representatives of different countries.
He said the outcome of the diplomatic activities in New York demonstrated, in Iran’s view, that the country was not isolated and continued to receive considerable respect internationally.
Iranian Foreign Minister Claims International Support
Araqchi claimed that during several meetings, officials and members of the public from different countries had expressed appreciation for Iran’s actions and resistance.
He said that a number of countries and individuals viewed Iran’s position and its resistance favourably. Araqchi also argued that the portrayal of Iran being advanced by the United States and Israel did not accurately reflect the country’s position.
These remarks were presented as part of Tehran’s broader assessment of its diplomatic engagement and international standing.
Diplomatic Channel Remains Open
Iran and the United States continue to communicate through intermediaries rather than direct negotiations. Qatar is playing a role in this diplomatic process by transmitting messages and conveying the positions of both sides.
Tehran is now waiting for Washington’s response, which is expected to help clarify the direction of future negotiations.
However, significant differences remain between the two countries over Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions, the Strait of Hormuz and other key issues.
