Date: October 5, 2026 The True Post (Web News) —Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has sought answers from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to eight key questions concerning its policy against terrorism, attacks originating from Afghanistan, solidarity with the security forces, and the party’s 13-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
8 Questions
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif raised questions after PTI maintained that it had not been allowed to formulate a policy against terrorism.
The Defence Minister asked who had prevented PTI from formulating a counterterrorism policy when the party had been in government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the past 13 years and had also held power at the federal level.
National Action Plan
Khawaja Asif questioned what policy obstacle had prevented the implementation of the National Action Plan and who had stopped the provincial government from convening high-level meetings on the issue.
He said that if political authority was available to take effective measures against terrorism, then why was no practical progress made in this regard.
Condemnation of Terrorism
The Defence Minister’s second question was why calling terrorists terrorists, condemning terrorists coming from Afghanistan, and standing with the security forces against attacks on the Pakistan Army and civilians required any specific policy.
He asked PTI to explain what had prevented it from adopting a clear position on these basic matters.
Kohat Drone Attacks
Referring to recent drone attacks in Kohat allegedly carried out from Afghanistan, Khawaja Asif asked why the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had not openly condemned the attacks.
He asked what policy had prevented the provincial government from adopting a clear position on the matter.
Border Violations
The Defence Minister also referred to firing on Pakistani border posts and military personnel from Afghanistan, infiltration, and the direct or indirect support of terrorists.
He asked how many times PTI had so far protested against or condemned these border violations by explicitly naming the Afghan government, and questioned what policy had been needed for doing so.
Illegal Economy
Khawaja Asif also raised the issue of an illegal economic system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that he said was considered supportive of terrorism.
He asked what practical measures the provincial government had taken during the past 13 years to eliminate extortion, smuggling, and the business of non-customs-paid vehicles.
He said that if such measures had been taken, their details should also be made public.
Security Forces
Referring to the sacrifices of the security forces, the Defence Minister asked PTI how many times its leaders had visited security posts to meet personnel engaged in the fight against terrorism and express solidarity with them.
He also referred to families affected by terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and asked how many times PTI leaders had visited affected people and orphaned children in the province to express sympathy and support.
State Position
Khawaja Asif also accused PTI of attempting to complicate the state’s position against terrorism in different ways.
He asked why terrorist groups were not referred to as “Khawarij” and why they were not openly condemned by name. According to the Defence Minister, taking such a position should not require any specific policy either.
Corruption Allegations
In his eighth question, Khawaja Asif raised the issue of corruption and the use of provincial resources during PTI’s prolonged rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said questions remained regarding the promotion of corruption and the use of resources in the province during the past 13 years of governance. According to him, PTI’s national and provincial lawmakers had continued to level allegations involving hundreds of millions and billions of rupees against one another on social media.
Khawaja Asif also referred to allegations by a woman member of the National Assembly regarding the alleged embezzlement of tens of millions of rupees received from abroad in party funds.
The central point of Khawaja Asif’s eight questions was that if PTI had been prevented from formulating an effective policy against terrorism, the party should explain the alleged obstacles, its practical measures, and the decisions taken during its 13 years of provincial governance.
