The True Post (Web News) —Four militants were killed during security operations in Balochistan’s Qalat and Gwadar districts, while a Pakistan Army major was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Pasni area of Gwadar district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said the incident occurred while security forces were conducting a clearance operation in Shadi Kaur, Pasni, to eliminate militant threats and secure the surrounding area.

The officer killed in the blast was identified as Major Wajahat Waheed, aged 34, who belonged to Lahore.

According to the ISPR statement, intelligence agencies had received information about the presence of several alleged militant hideouts linked to the group described by Pakistani authorities as Fitna al-Hindustan. The reported locations included Jattakabad in Qalat district and Shadi Kaur in Pasni, Gwadar district.

Security forces subsequently launched operations in the identified areas.

Four Militants Killed in Intelligence-Based Operation in Qalat

According to the ISPR, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Jattakabad, Qalat district, on October 18, 2026.

During the operation, troops targeted a suspected militant hideout based on intelligence information. An exchange of heavy gunfire followed the engagement.

The operation resulted in the deaths of four militants, the military said.

Security forces also recovered a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition from the site, according to the statement.

The operation was part of broader security efforts in Balochistan aimed at addressing militant threats and protecting local communities.

Major Wajahat Waheed Martyred in Pasni IED Explosion

In a separate incident in Shadi Kaur, Pasni, Gwadar district, security forces were conducting a clearance operation when their personnel were targeted by an improvised explosive device.

The explosion killed Major Wajahat Waheed, who was leading the military contingent, according to the ISPR.

The 34-year-old officer was from Lahore and was serving in Balochistan when the incident occurred.

The military described his death as a sacrifice in the line of duty while carrying out responsibilities related to the country’s defence.

IED attacks remain a serious security challenge for forces operating in areas where suspected militants may have planted explosive devices along routes or near locations used by security personnel.

Clearance Operation Continues in Gwadar

The ISPR said clearance operations were continuing in the affected area of Pasni to locate and eliminate potential militant hideouts and improve security for the local population.

Security personnel are working to secure the area and address any remaining threats, according to the military statement.

The latest incidents highlight the security challenges facing Balochistan, where militant activity and attacks on security personnel have remained a concern.

The reported deaths in Qalat and the fatal IED explosion in Gwadar underscore the risks faced by security forces conducting operations in the province.

Authorities have emphasised the need to continue security efforts to counter militant threats and protect residents. Further details about the ongoing clearance operation may emerge as the military provides additional information.
