Alberta launches new information website for October 19 public referendum

The True Post (Web News) A new information website has been launched for the provincial public referendum to be held on October 19, 2026 in the Canadian province of Alberta.

The aim is to provide citizens with full information on important issues. According to officials, on this website, the public can view the nine referendum questions and get detailed information on immigration and constitutional issues. These questions are related to the province’s greater autonomy within a united Canada.
The province’s Premier Daniel Smith said that Alberta was built by people who stood up for their principles and values. According to him, this public referendum provides citizens with an opportunity to directly express their opinions on the province’s future and sovereignty. Five of the nine questions are related to immigration policy.

Officials say federal policies have increased pressure on educational institutions, emergency medical centers and social services, so public input is being sought on how to make these systems sustainable and accessible. The remaining four questions relate to constitutional reforms, through which the province will work with other like-minded provinces to consider changes in the distribution of powers to further strengthen provincial autonomy.

Provincial Justice Minister Mickey Emery said that through this website, the public will be able to make informed decisions and cast their votes with confidence. The public referendum will be held on October 19, with voting procedures similar to provincial elections and polling stations and paper ballots provided for eligible voters.
