Alberta Premier Daniel Smith Announces Three By-Elections On June 23

The True Post (Web News)Alberta Premier Daniel Smith has announced three by-elections for June 23, 2025. The elections will be held in the ridings of Edmonton Strathcona, Edmonton-Ellerslie and Olds Didsbury Three Hills. The seats were vacated following the resignations of Rachel Notley, Rod Loyola and Nathan Cooper, respectively.

New NDP leader Nahid Nenshi will run for the Edmonton-Strathcona seat, which was vacated by the resignation of Rachel Natale, who had represented the riding since 2015.

The seat of Edmonton Ellerslie was vacated by the resignation of Rod Loyola, who resigned to enter federal politics. The seat of Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills was vacated by the resignation of Nathan Cooper, who was appointed as Alberta’s representative to Washington, D.C.
