CALGARY: A Calgary 911 emergency dispatcher has been charged after allegedly accessing confidential emergency response information and sharing it with an unauthorized individual, according to Calgary Police.

Police said the investigation began in January 2026 after concerns were raised that sensitive information from emergency calls was being accessed and distributed outside official systems.

Investigators allege that between July 2023 and January 2024, the dispatcher improperly used her position to obtain confidential records from the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and shared the information with a person who was not authorized to receive it.

On March 31, 2026, police executed a search warrant and seized several electronic devices. Investigators said the devices contained screenshots from real CAD incidents, dispatcher communications, and personal information related to emergency calls.

According to police, the recovered material included names, phone numbers, residential addresses, and details linked to police and 911 emergency incidents. Authorities confirmed the screenshots matched official Calgary Police and 911 system records.

Police have charged 43-year-old Jessica Lynn Nelson with Breach of Trust by a Public Officer. She is scheduled to appear in court in August.

Investigators said there is no evidence that any other employee of Calgary’s 911 service was involved in the alleged misconduct.

Police are asking anyone with additional information about the case to contact the Calgary Police Service or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
