The True Post (Web News) The “Children’s Day” celebration of the Calgary Stampede 2025 saw a great turnout, with more than 160,000 people attending despite the cold weather.
The record attendance brings the Stampede’s five-day total attendance to more than 970,000, significantly higher than last year’s attendance for the same period (905,000).
Stampede officials also set a new record with 193,000 people entering the gates on Tuesday for TC Energy Community Day. The numbers put this year’s event on track to surpass, and possibly surpass, the 2024 total of 1,477,953.
Crowd concerns at Coca-Cola Stage
While the overall Stampede experience is being hailed as a success, scenes at the Coca-Cola Stage have both organizers and fans concerned. On Wednesday evening, the crowd was so large that people were seen standing very close to each other, “packed like sardines,” during a performance by famous artists Amin and Khalid. Similarly, during Don Toliver’s show on Tuesday night, there was a huge crowd, which prompted concerns from attendees on social media. Several users described the layout near the stage as inadequate and said that the space felt inadequate and dangerous for some artists.
Officials’ explanation and response
According to Stampede Safety Director Kerry Blizzard, “We are satisfied with the concerts so far. Most fans have made positive remarks at the end of the event.” However, he acknowledged that the intensity of the crowd needs to be better managed in some areas and organizers are looking into this aspect. Discussions are ongoing on further improved security, crowd monitoring and alternative arrangements for the Coca-Cola Stage to address such concerns in the future.
Closing Remarks
Calgary Stampede 2025 is once again establishing itself as the world’s largest outdoor show, as per its tradition. If this pace continues, this year will not only break the previous record but also set a new one. However, organizers need to pay more attention to the capacity of the stage areas and security measures to ensure the safety and comfort of participants.
