Canada could sign European defense rearmament plan by July 1

The True Post (Web News)Prime Minister Mark Carney indicated that he hopes Canada will be able to sign a major European defence rearmament plan by July 1, a step towards reducing the country’s dependence on the United States for weapons and ammunition. He said in an interview that he wants to move aggressively.

75 cents of every dollar of capital spending on defence goes to the United States, it is not sensible. Carney has been busy since taking office to join the European Union in the plan, in which countries on the continent will spend $1.25 trillion on defence over the next five years. Carney said that we are moving forward on this and we want to see something concrete by Canada Day.
Shortly after the prime minister spoke of closer defense cooperation with Europe, US President Donald Trump told Truth Social that his administration is in talks with Canada about joining their Golden Dome missile defense system, which would cost $61 billion, but would cost zero dollars if Canada became our 51st province. He is considering the offer. Carney made it clear in his Oval Office meeting with Trump that Canada is not interested in joining the US.
