Great News For Canadian Snowbirds, Important Bill Introduced In The Us House Of Representatives

The True Post ( Web News )A bill has been introduced in the US House of Representatives, which will become law once passed.

The legislation would extend the period of stay for Canadian citizens in the United States from 180 days to 240 days, which is expected to further strengthen ties between the two countries. The bill was co-sponsored by Representatives Elise Stefanik of New York, Laurel Lee of Florida, and Greg Stanton of Arizona. The bipartisan bill would be particularly beneficial for individuals who own or lease residences in the United States, and is expected to boost their close ties to the United States and economic activity.
The Canadian Snowbird Visa Act, which became law in late April, would provide long-term residency for individuals 50 years of age or older who are permanent residents of both countries. The move comes as many Canadians are cutting back on travel to the United States due to US President Donald Trump’s ongoing trade war and threats of annexation. Moreover, low interest rates and rising insurance rates have also forced many Canadian snowbirds to sell their American properties. “Increasing the time Canadians can stay in the United States will enhance local communities and jobs, and strengthen ties with our closest neighbors,” Lee said in a news release.
