In response to India’s 587 runs, England were all out for 407 runs in the first innings. Jamie Smith was the leading batsman for the English team with an unbeaten 184 runs, while Harry Brook also played an innings of 158 runs. By the end of play on the third day, India had scored 64 runs for the loss of one wicket in the second innings against England and had a lead of 244 runs over the hosts.
