I Am Ready To Run For Speaker Of The House In The Next Election: Elizabeth May

The True Post (Web News)Green Party leader Elizabeth May, the only member of her party to be re-elected, said she is ready to run for the position of Speaker of the House when the next parliament begins. She said she is ready for many things.

He said he has put his name on the list for the election of Speaker several times without campaigning to become Speaker. But he is deeply concerned about the extent to which the Canadian Parliament and the role of the Canadian Speaker have strayed from our principles and traditions. According to the procedure of the House of Commons, the election of the Speaker of the House is the first stage of a new parliamentary session, which is the second stage after the swearing-in of members of Parliament.

The responsibilities of the Speaker of the House of Commons extend far beyond the role that most Canadians assume. Order must be maintained in the proceedings of the House by fairly interpreting parliamentary rules. The Speaker has major administrative duties as well as ceremonial and political responsibilities when acting as the representative of the Canadian Parliament. He said he is fully committed to the functioning of Parliament and respectful debate. When asked if he would be open to a position in Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet, he laughed and said, “Absolutely, but that’s a fantasy.” He also said he would not be willing to give up the green banner for any cabinet position.
