The True Post (Web News)Health authorities in Foothills County, Alberta, are investigating a sudden outbreak of illness believed to be caused by contaminated food. Multiple individuals have reported symptoms including severe stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever after consuming meals at a local gathering.
According to Alberta Health Services (AHS), initial test results suggest the possible presence of E. coli bacteria or a foodborne parasite, though the exact source has not yet been confirmed. Officials have collected food samples and patient specimens for laboratory analysis, and results are expected in the coming days.
“We are currently working to identify the pathogen responsible and trace its origin,” an AHS spokesperson said. “Public safety is our top priority, and anyone experiencing symptoms is urged to seek medical attention immediately.”
The affected individuals range in age, including children and elderly residents, some of whom have required hospitalization. While no deaths have been reported, the severity of symptoms in certain cases has raised concern among health officials.
AHS is advising the public to take standard precautions such as frequent handwashing, proper food handling, and avoiding undercooked or improperly stored food. The agency has also requested that anyone who attended the specific gathering or consumed food from the suspected location contact local health authorities.
