The True Post(Web News) Canada on Saturday joined its international partners in strongly condemning Israel’s planned occupation of Gaza City.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Canada, Australia, France, Germany and the United Kingdom rejected the decision, saying that Israel’s approval of another large-scale military operation in Gaza would not only worsen the humanitarian crisis, but also endanger the lives of hostages and increase the risk of mass displacement of civilians. Meanwhile, families of those held hostage in Israel and Gazans are expressing grave concern about the plan. Many have called it a “death wish.” According to Israeli media reports, families of the victims and human rights activists say that further military operations will not only destroy the chances of the hostages’ release but also endanger the lives of thousands of Palestinian civilians.
Several countries, including Canada, have urged Israel to **pursue diplomacy instead of military force** and consider an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
