Iran Orders Its Citizens To Immediately Delete Whatsapp

The True Post (web news )Iran has instructed its citizens to immediately delete WhatsApp.

Iran has accused the world’s largest messaging platform, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, of sharing user data with Israel. Iran has accused WhatsApp of sharing Iranian user data with Israel amid rising tensions in the region. However, the Iranian government has not provided any evidence in this regard. In response, WhatsApp has strongly denied the allegations. The company says its service is secured by end-to-end encryption, which means messages remain private and not even WhatsApp itself can read them.

According to Meta, we do not track users’ locations nor do we provide any kind of informational data to governments. The company also warned that such allegations could potentially be used as an excuse to block the app. WhatsApp and Google Play were banned and shut down in 2022 after mass protests in Iran. However, access to them was restored in late 2023. Despite past restrictions, WhatsApp is still widely used in Iran.
