According to various reports, more than 10,000 jobs have been lost due to AI, with the most affected sectors being technology, office management services, customer service, financial institutions, and translation or content writing.
In the technology sector, large companies such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Meta have laid off thousands of employees, especially software engineers, data analysts, and HR staff. Automated chatbots and AI virtual assistants have also led to large-scale layoffs in call centers and customer service positions. Similarly, mid-office and back-office jobs in financial services are at risk, as AI systems are increasingly taking over data processing and reporting tasks. Sectors such as translation, content writing, and graphic design are also at risk, as modern AI models are performing these tasks in a fraction of the time.
Experts have warned that millions more jobs could be lost in the next few years if proper government policy, reskilling, and ethical guidance are not put in place. While AI is increasing productivity, it is also threatening the livelihoods of ordinary people.
