Hearing the children’s screams, neighbors rushed to help, but the attacker also targeted them, as a result of which several people lost their lives. According to the police, upon reaching the scene, the suspect also tried to attack the officers, to which the police shot him in the legs, arrested him in an injured state and transferred him to the hospital. The dead include the suspect’s children and the neighbors who came to save them. The President of Suriname has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the incident and has expressed condolences to the affected families, while officials say that a full investigation into the incident is underway and all aspects are being reviewed.
