The True Post — Pakistan has assumed the presidency of the 2026 session of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament (CD). According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan is the final president of the conference for the current year and will lead various meetings and consultations during its term.
Tahir Andrabi to Chair Conference Meetings
According to the Foreign Office, Additional Secretary for Arms Control and Disarmament Tahir Andrabi is chairing the meetings of the conference on behalf of Pakistan.
After assuming the presidency, Pakistan immediately began the consultation process, engaging with representatives of different member states and regional groups on key issues.
The spokesperson said Tahir Andrabi also chaired a meeting of former presidents of the 2026 session and held consultations with representatives of various regional groups.
Negotiations on Annual Report
During Pakistan’s presidency, the country will also guide the preparation of the conference’s annual report and negotiations on a resolution to be presented to the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly.
Pakistan has assumed this responsibility at a time when the world is facing multiple challenges related to nuclear weapons, arms races and international security.

65 Countries Represented
