Pakistan Will Assume The Presidency Of The Security Council Next Month.

The True Post (Web News) Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

 

During the meeting, it was confirmed that Pakistan will assume the presidency of the Security Council next month (July). In this important meeting held at the United Nations Headquarters, a detailed discussion was held on Pakistan’s proposed work program under which Security Council meetings will be held on several important issues of international peace and security. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed clarified that Pakistan will promote transparent, consultative and constructive diplomacy during its presidency of the Security Council so that effective progress can be made in resolving global issues.

During the meeting, the ongoing global crises, especially the delicate situation in the Middle East, tensions in the African and Asian regions, and the effectiveness of UN peacekeeping missions were also discussed. On this occasion, the Pakistani ambassador emphasized the importance of adhering to the UN Charter, peaceful resolution of conflicts, and collective efforts. He reiterated his full support for the Secretary-General’s efforts for peace and stability, highlighting the need for multilateral cooperation to address international challenges. Pakistan’s upcoming presidency will not only highlight its diplomatic activities at the global level but will also provide an opportunity to more effectively highlight the South Asian position on the UN platform.
