The accident occurred near the M2-Blixar interchange on the motorway due to a burst tire of a private company bus, killing 8 people and injuring 18. According to a spokesperson for the motorway police, after the front tire of the bus burst, the driver could not control the bus and the bus overturned. Motorway police reached the spot as soon as they received information. The private company bus was going from Rawalpindi to Lahore.
According to Rescue 1122, the deceased and 18 injured were shifted to DHQ Chakwal. The deceased include 35-year-old Mismat Habiba, 8-month-old Haider Mohsin, an unidentified one-year-old child, 26-year-old Um Habiba Mohsin, 14-year-old Khadija Khaliq, 2-year-old Haram Khaliq, 45-year-old Sardar Nadeem and 3-year-old Sardar Nadeem. Motorway police and rescue services provided first aid to those with minor injuries on the spot and rescue operations are underway.
