The True Post (Web News) A powerful explosion occurred when explosives stored in an armory suddenly exploded at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Peshawar, killing one policeman and injuring two others.
According to the police, the explosion was caused by the explosion of **old explosives** stored in the arms store, after which the fire broke out and the flames spread to other ammunition, due to which more small-scale explosions were also heard. As soon as the information about the explosion was received, teams of police, CTD, Rescue 1122, fire brigade and bomb disposal unit reached the spot. The area was immediately surrounded and **all the detainees were shifted to a safe place** and the clearance operation is underway.
CCPO Peshawar Mian Saeed, giving initial information, said that apparently this incident does not seem to be the result of terrorism, but the explosives stored there exploded due to a short circuit. He said that “according to the initial investigation, one CTD official was martyred on the spot in the explosion, while two injured have been shifted to the hospital. A full investigation into the matter is underway.”
The CTD investigation team, while examining the scene, said that explosive materials recovered from different cases of 2025 were present in the police station, and it is likely that the same material accidentally caused the explosion. Taking notice of the incident, the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sought a detailed inquiry report from the Additional IG CTD within **five days.
