Fresh Russian missile and drone attacks have disrupted Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, leaving more than 200,000 consumers without power. Authorities said electricity supplies have been widely interrupted in the city of Dnipro and surrounding areas, while repair work is underway to restore damaged energy facilities.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched ballistic missiles and drone attacks on several parts of the country overnight. The strikes disrupted electricity supplies in Dnipro, forcing authorities to introduce emergency power outages in multiple areas.

The local electricity company said the grid operator had ordered emergency power cuts in Dnipro, nearby districts and parts of Pavlohrad. Russian strikes damaged energy infrastructure, but electricity workers are continuing efforts to restore the affected systems and bring supplies back online.

Deadly Drone Attack on Dnipro Railway Station

The latest attacks came just one day after a Russian drone strike hit a busy railway platform in Dnipro on Thursday, killing at least 14 people and injuring more than a dozen others.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the incident as horrific, highlighting the growing threat posed by Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure and public transport facilities.

Ukraine Warns of Growing Risks Ahead of Winter

Ukrainian officials say Russia has repeatedly targeted the country’s critical energy infrastructure during the war in an apparent effort to weaken its ability to withstand the conflict.

Authorities have warned that continued attacks on electricity and heating systems ahead of winter could create serious difficulties for millions of people.

With temperatures expected to fall in the coming months, damage to power generation and distribution facilities could further increase pressure on households and essential public services.

Russia Claims to Have Shot Down More Than 1,000 Ukrainian Drones

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry has claimed that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed more than 1,000 Ukrainian drones across various Russian regions overnight.

The figures were released by the Russian Defence Ministry. The claim has not been independently verified.

The latest developments underline the continued escalation of attacks on critical infrastructure as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues, raising concerns about civilian safety and the stability of Ukraine’s energy supply during the approaching winter.
