Several Fall Ill After Dining at Calgary Restaurant, Temporarily Closed

The True Post (Web News)A restaurant south of Calgary voluntarily shut its doors on Wednesday after multiple people reported feeling unwell following meals there last week.

Saskatoon Farm, located east of Highway 2 in Foothills County, stated in a social media post that the closure was not mandated by Alberta Health Services (AHS), but rather a decision by the team to regroup and realign operations following the incident.

Restaurant management said on Tuesday they noticed “irregularities” in water quality and received reports of flu-like symptoms from guests who dined on July 15 and 16. The issue was identified on July 17, prompting an immediate switch to an alternative water source, which AHS deemed satisfactory.

As an added precaution, only canned and bottled beverages, including packaged ice, have been used since the incident.

Saskatoon Farm emphasized it is taking the matter very seriously and is fully cooperating with AHS in its investigation. The restaurant is scheduled to reopen to the public on Thursday.

“We want to assure you that the issue from last week has been fully resolved,” the business said in a Facebook post on Wednesday. “This short pause was simply to ensure we continue operating at the highest standards.”

Those who experienced symptoms after dining at the restaurant on July 15 or 16 are encouraged to contact hello@saskatoonfarm.com. The restaurant team stated that any further updates will be shared with the public as they become available.
