
The True Post (Web News)Calgary Police Service (CPS) has officially named Katie McLellan as its interim police chief. The announcement comes after current police chief Mark Neufeld decided to step down following the end of his term or possible separation.
Katie McLellan, a long-time policing, leadership and policymaker, will take the reins of the city’s highest police authority on an interim basis.
Katie McLellan has served at senior levels in various law enforcement agencies and is renowned for her work in public safety, crime prevention and community engagement. Under her leadership, CPS will enter a new transitional period, during which the search for a permanent police chief will continue. “
We are pleased to have a leader of Katie McLellan’s experience and vision to take on this responsibility,” the chair of the Calgary Police Board told the media .
“This is a time of change and stability, and we are confident that under her leadership, CPS will move forward in a positive direction.” Chief McLellan said in a statement on her appointment: “It is an honour for me to lead this prestigious institution on an interim basis. I will work to further strengthen the trust between the police service and the public.”
