The True Post (Web News) Single-use vapes are causing nicotine addiction and other health problems among young people.
In recent years, vaping rates have increased significantly among children aged 11 to 15, and many of them see vaping as a “fashion”. These vapes usually attract children due to their bright colours, sweet flavours and cheap prices. The ban will apply from June 1, 2025, and only rechargeable or refillable vapes will continue to be sold. Those who break the law can be fined £200 or face more severe penalties. The government says the move is to curb the rising rate of vaping among young people and reduce environmental pollution.
Single-use vapes are also causing environmental pollution. Around five million vapes are thrown away every week, polluting land, water and air.
The batteries and other components in these vapes cannot be recycled, causing environmental damage. Vaping industry leaders have expressed concern about the ban, as it could cause financial losses for businesses. They say the ban could lead to an increase in illegal vaping sales, which would be more dangerous for young people. The government has described the ban as part of its “Smoke-Free Generation” plan, which aims to provide young people with a tobacco and nicotine-free environment. In addition, the government has also indicated further restrictions on vaping marketing, flavors and packaging.
