Google Pixel smartphones are particularly affected by battery issues caused by the photo and video sharing app Instagram. However, it is not clear whether other Android phones are also experiencing the same issue. A Google representative on the Android support forum said that Instagram has released an update in this regard and the issue should now be resolved. Community manager Adil Sheikh said that Instagram is releasing an updated app that should resolve the battery drain issue on Android devices. He said that users should make sure that they have the latest version of Instagram (382.0.0.49.84) installed to resolve the issue.
