Ndp Defeat, Jagmeet Singh Resigns As Party Leader

The True Post ( web News)After a challenging election campaign that sidelined the New Democrats, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has failed to secure his re-election and has announced that he will step down after an interim leader is appointed.

“The choice to dedicate your life to politics obviously comes with some sacrifice, but we choose this life because it’s an opportunity to improve the country we love,” Jagmeet Singh said Monday night in Burnaby, B.C. It’s tough, he said, but we’ll only lose if we stop fighting.

He said he knows it’s a disappointing night for the New Democrats, “we had some really good candidates who lost.” Singh also gave up his seat in the House of Commons, which he has held since 2019. The party also lost its official status after failing to secure the 12 seats it needed.
