Government of Pakistan approves promotion of General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal

The True Post( Web news)The Government of Pakistan has approved the promotion of General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal. The Ministry of Defense issued a notification of the promotion to the rank of Field Marshal.

Important decisions were taken in a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The Prime Minister congratulated the entire Pakistani nation on the brilliant success of Operation Banyan Marsus during the Battle of Haq and the defeat of the enemy’s intentions.

The Government of Pakistan has approved the promotion of General Syed Asim Munir (Nishan-e-Imtiaz Military) to the rank of Field Marshal for ensuring the security of the country and defeating the enemy based on the superior strategy and courageous leadership of the Battle of Haq and Operation Banyan Marsus.

According to the statement, Pakistan recently went through a difficult phase in history. On the night of May 6 and 7, 2025, India imposed an unprovoked and unjustified war on Pakistan. Innocent civilians, including women and children, were targeted among Pakistan’s civilian population.

The enemy made a sinister attempt to violate Pakistan’s sovereignty and border integrity. Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir led the Pakistan Army with exemplary courage and determination and vigorously coordinated the war strategy and efforts of the armed forces.

According to the statement, thanks to the unparalleled leadership of the Army Chief, Pakistan achieved a historic victory in the war of truth. In recognition of his brilliant military leadership, courage and bravery, ensuring Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and courageous defense against the enemy, the cabinet approved the Prime Minister’s proposal to promote General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal.

The Prime Minister met with President Asif Ali Zardari and took him into confidence regarding this decision.
