
The True Post (Web News) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) suffers a major political setback in the National Assembly.
Three important positions have been withdrawn from the party and memberships of various committees have also been terminated. According to sources, PTI leader Omar Ayub has been removed from the position of opposition leader, while Zartaj Gul’s position as parliamentary leader and Ahmed Chatha’s position as deputy parliamentary leader have also been terminated. In addition, the opposition leader’s chamber has also been withdrawn from PTI. The
National Assembly Speaker informed the house that these positions have been canceled due to the disqualification of the members, after which the consultation process between the opposition and the speaker will resume. The speaker is likely to issue a notification for the new opposition leader from the National Assembly. PTI’s independent members will have to be re-nominated for the positions of parliamentary leader and deputy parliamentary leader.
Omar Ayub has also been removed from the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee and Finance Committee, while the standing committee memberships of seven disqualified PTI members have also been withdrawn. The most significant changes among these members include the cancellation of Sahibzada Hameed Raza’s chairmanship of the Human Rights Committee and the withdrawal of Zartaj Gul’s membership from the Human Rights Committee. Similarly, Rai Hassan Nawaz has also been removed from the post of chairman of the Railways Committee.
