According to international media reports, the 193-member General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution titled “2025 Political Declaration for the Implementation of the Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons”. The resolution condemned human trafficking in the strongest terms, calling it not only a serious crime but also a direct attack on human dignity.
Deep concern over trafficking of women and children
The resolution made it clear that global efforts should be further intensified against the root causes of human trafficking, especially effective measures are necessary to protect women and children from this crime. The General Assembly expressed its determination that governments, institutions and societies at the global level will adopt a joint strategy to combat this problem.
Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations **Usman Jadoon** expressed deep concern over the growing threats of human trafficking in his address. He said that this crime is affecting societies and individuals around the world, While **armed conflicts, environmental disasters, and economic inequality are making this problem more serious.
He said in the light of statistics that **children** are becoming the biggest victims of human trafficking, which is a very worrying aspect for the international community. Usman Jadoon said that Pakistan is simultaneously a **source of departure, transit, and host country**, so the issue of human trafficking is of exceptional importance for Pakistan. He emphasized at the global forum that it is not possible to eliminate human trafficking without addressing the root causes of the problem.
