The True Post (Web News)Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei has said that Pakistan played a positive role in promoting peace efforts, but Iran does not trust the United States and currently has no plan to attend the second round of talks with Washington.
Speaking at a press briefing, Baghaei said Iran cannot rely on the United States, accusing it of failing to act in good faith during diplomatic processes. He claimed that Washington has taken aggressive steps, violated ceasefire agreements, and targeted Iranian territory, civilians, and infrastructure.
He said Iran will continue to protect its national interests and will take all necessary measures to safeguard its security. According to him, the United States has not shown seriousness in advancing peace efforts and continues to follow a confrontational policy, making meaningful negotiations impossible under current conditions.
Baghaei also referred to earlier discussions on a ten-point proposal presented in Pakistan, saying that exchanges had already taken place on the matter. He further alleged that before recent tensions, the Strait of Hormuz remained secure, but US and Israeli actions, including maritime restrictions and vessel seizures, escalated the situation.
He described the alleged US maritime blockade and attacks on Iranian vessels as clear violations of international law and the ceasefire framework. He also accused Washington of launching strikes that damaged infrastructure and harmed civilians.
The spokesperson added that Iran has communicated concerns about ceasefire violations to Pakistan and criticized the US for presenting contradictory positions in public while maintaining unchanged policies in practice.
Separately, senior Iranian officials reiterated a dual approach of diplomacy and preparedness. Parliamentary National Security Committee chief Ibrahim Azizi said Iran may continue dialogue with the US but will not accept unreasonable demands, calling current negotiations an extension of broader strategic pressure.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also said Iran is continuing diplomatic engagement while remaining fully prepared for any escalation, stressing that Tehran does not trust its adversaries and must stay alert to changing conditions.
Overall, Iranian officials emphasised a policy of maintaining diplomatic channels while simultaneously preparing for all possible security scenarios amid rising regional tensions.
