Peace Talks Impossible if US’s Current Attitude Persists, Says Iran

The True Post (Web News) Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, has said that it is impossible for Iran to continue peace talks due to lack of trust in the United States.

If the current US attitude continues, the talks will not yield any results. Ibrahim Azizi said in an interview with the American Broadcasting Corporation that he does not believe that the US president is speaking honestly. According to him, Iran sees the talks as part of the war, and will not object to the talks only if the US shows seriousness and adherence to the principles of negotiations. The chairman of the committee highlighted the issue of Iran’s frozen assets and the absence of a practical framework as the biggest obstacles. He said, “Iran does not see a serious intention on the part of the US to form a workable framework.”

Iran’s frozen assets are a clear example of this.” There are currently no negotiations on uranium enrichment and nuclear issues, and these issues are not the purpose of the negotiations at this stage. Regarding the peace agreement, Azizi said that an agreement between the US and Iran is possible only if the US attitude is positive and Iran’s conditions are practically met. He said: “It is not possible to continue negotiations without trust. If the continuation of negotiations is not possible, then naturally no results will be achieved.

” The chairman clarified that if the conditions set by Iran are met, national interests, economic issues and practical progress are seen in the Lebanese issue, then the negotiations can move forward. However, if this does not happen, the Iranian Resistance Front and its members will not back down, especially on the Lebanese issue.
