The True Post (Web News) Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand arrived in Islamabad on Monday on her first official visit after assuming office.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar welcomed them warmly at the Foreign Office. The high-level talks between the delegations of the two countries focused on further strengthening bilateral relations, increasing economic cooperation, and discussing regional and international issues in detail. According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the meeting reviewed recent bilateral developments between Pakistan and Canada and the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further expand the mutually beneficial partnership.
The two sides agreed to increase cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, industry and other priority sectors, while it was also decided to hold an annual meeting to review the progress made on the joint declaration. On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan believes in active diplomacy and has great potential to further strengthen relations with Canada.
He expressed hope that the two countries would give a new dimension to cooperation in various fields and strengthen mutual ties. Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand thanked the Pakistani government for the warm hospitality and said that her country was committed to further promoting relations with Pakistan. She said that Pakistan and Canada need to work together more in areas of mutual interest so that both countries and peoples can benefit from it.
She also emphasized that there are about three hundred thousand citizens of Pakistani origin living in Canada, which is an important source of strong ties between the two countries. Anita Anand said that there are vast opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, industry, trade and other sectors, while Pakistan and Canada have great potential to play a positive role in the global economy.
