Quebec (Web News): Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette has marked her first 100 days in office, saying her government has already begun delivering on several key election promises and remains committed to improving the lives of Quebecers.
In a video message shared on social media, Fréchette described the government’s first 100 days as productive, highlighting initiatives aimed at tackling the rising cost of living, improving access to housing, strengthening healthcare services, expanding affordable childcare, supporting small businesses, and protecting the French language.
Housing Measures Underway
The Premier announced that the government has launched a Welcome Tax Refund Program for first-time homebuyers to make home ownership more affordable.
She also confirmed the start of a housing initiative focused on building homes priced below CA$350,000, with the goal of helping middle-income families purchase their first home.
Housing affordability has remained one of the biggest challenges facing Quebec and many other Canadian provinces in recent years due to rising home prices and limited supply.
Expanding Childcare and Healthcare
To reduce financial pressure on families, the Quebec government is converting 5,000 non-subsidized daycare spaces into subsidized ones, allowing more parents to access affordable childcare.
Fréchette also said investments are being made to modernize hospitals and improve healthcare infrastructure across the province, ensuring better medical services for residents.
Tax Relief for Businesses and Farmers
The Premier announced tax reductions for approximately 75,000 small businesses, saying the move is intended to encourage investment, create jobs, and strengthen Quebec’s economy.
In addition, nearly 15,000 farmers will receive carbon tax rebates to ease financial pressures on the agricultural sector and support food production.
Cost-of-Living Support
As part of efforts to address inflation, the government will provide a CA$200 financial payment to eligible low-income residents to help offset rising living expenses.
The government is also moving forward with legislation aimed at protecting the French language while introducing new initiatives to promote Quebec culture among children.

Political analysts say Fréchette has made a strong start by quickly uniting her party and focusing on issues that matter most to voters, including housing affordability, inflation, and everyday household expenses.
Some observers believe these early actions have helped improve public support for the governing Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ), although they emphasize that long-term success will depend on delivering measurable results.

Despite the positive assessment of the government’s first 100 days, analysts caution that significant challenges remain.
Quebec’s relationship with the United States, economic uncertainty, housing affordability, healthcare pressures, and preparations for the next provincial election are expected to test Fréchette’s leadership in the months ahead.
Political observers note that voters will now judge the government not only by its announcements but also by how effectively those promises are implemented.
A New Chapter for Quebec
Christine Fréchette became Premier of Quebec in April 2026, succeeding François Legault as leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ).
She is the second woman in Quebec’s history to serve as Premier and the first leader other than François Legault to head the CAQ since the party was founded in 2011.
With provincial elections approaching, the coming months are expected to play a crucial role in shaping both Fréchette’s political future and the direction of Quebec’s government.
