A 111-year-old woman in China has offered a glimpse into her daily routine and lifestyle, sharing the simple habits she believes have helped her remain active well into old age.
Wang Guiying, from Jiangsu province in eastern China, says she does not feel particularly old despite reaching 111. She remains able to walk independently and has continued taking part in agricultural work even after turning 100.
Her lifestyle has attracted attention because of her continued physical activity, simple diet, regular sleep schedule and emphasis on avoiding unnecessary stress.
Still Working in the Fields at 111
Wang says staying physically active has been an important part of her life for many years.
Despite her advanced age, she has continued helping with agricultural work, including harvesting peanuts and watermelons. She considers everyday physical activity an important part of staying healthy.
For Wang, even ordinary household chores can help keep the body moving. She continues to do simple tasks around the house according to her ability rather than remaining inactive throughout the day.
She Still Does Household Chores
Wang continues to perform several routine household tasks herself, including cleaning tables and folding clothes.
Her family members sometimes encourage her to rest, but she prefers to remain involved in daily activities whenever she feels capable of doing so.
She believes staying active helps her feel physically better and gives her a sense of independence.
A Simple and Balanced Diet
Wang does not follow an extreme diet or a complicated set of nutritional rules.
Instead, she prefers eating a variety of foods in moderate amounts. Her family regularly changes the meals prepared for her, allowing her to maintain variety in her diet.
Fish is reportedly among her favorite foods because she finds it soft and easy to digest.
Rather than focusing on a highly restrictive diet, Wang emphasizes moderation and variety in everyday meals.
Avoiding Anger and Unnecessary Conflict
Wang also believes that mental well-being is an important part of a long life.
She says she tries to avoid unnecessary arguments, anger and stress. Instead of allowing conflicts to dominate her thoughts, she prefers maintaining peace of mind and treating others well.
Her approach reflects a simple philosophy: staying physically active is important, but maintaining emotional balance is equally valuable.
A Regular Sleep Schedule
Wang also maintains a consistent sleep routine.
According to available information, she generally goes to bed around 7 p.m. and wakes up at approximately 7 a.m. She also takes a short nap once or twice during the day.
She considers adequate rest and a regular daily routine important for keeping both the body and mind refreshed.
Rugao Known for Longevity
Wang is from Rugao, a city in China that has gained attention for its large population of elderly residents.
Available figures indicate that as of February this year, Rugao had 672 residents aged 100 or older. The city’s relatively large number of centenarians has made it a notable location in discussions about longevity in China.
Is There a Secret to Living Longer?
Wang’s story highlights several everyday habits associated with a healthy lifestyle: staying physically active, eating a varied diet in moderation, maintaining a regular sleep schedule and avoiding unnecessary stress.
However, experts generally caution against treating one person’s lifestyle as a scientific formula for longevity. Genetics, healthcare, living conditions, social connections and many other factors can influence how long and how healthily a person lives.
At 111, Wang’s continued activity nevertheless offers an interesting example of how simple daily routines can remain an important part of life even in extreme old age.
