RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah, where he observed the testing and trials of modern weapons and ammunition developed and manufactured locally.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief and Chief of Defence Forces visited Pakistan’s largest defence industrial complex and received a detailed briefing on POF’s production capabilities, export potential and role in strengthening the country’s defence industrial base.
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir was briefed on various departments and ongoing operations at the facility. Officials also provided an overview of efforts to manufacture modern military equipment locally, expand production capacity and introduce innovation into defence products.
Field Marshal Asim Munir Observes Weapon and Ammunition Trials
According to ISPR, Field Marshal Asim Munir witnessed tests and trials of weapons and ammunition designed and manufactured domestically.
He was briefed on measures being taken to achieve greater self-reliance in defence production, make use of modern technology and enhance manufacturing capacity.
The visit highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen its indigenous defence production capabilities and reduce reliance on external sources for meeting national defence requirements.
Review of POF Corporatization Process
The Field Marshal was also briefed on progress regarding the corporatization of Pakistan Ordnance Factories.
Officials briefed him on measures taken following the implementation of the DIPRA ordinance and provided an update on the progress of the corporatization process.
The development is part of broader efforts to improve the organization’s industrial efficiency, production capabilities and commercial potential.
Two New Industrial Plants Being Installed
During the briefing, Field Marshal Asim Munir was informed about ongoing projects aimed at increasing local production and industrial capacity at POF.
According to ISPR, particular attention was given to the installation of two new industrial plants.
Production at the two facilities is expected to begin by the end of the current year.
Officials said the new plants are expected to further increase Pakistan’s defence production capacity and support the local manufacturing of modern military equipment.
Focus on Defence Self-Reliance
The visit also reaffirmed Pakistan’s focus on self-reliance, indigenous production and technological innovation in the defence sector.
According to ISPR, POF continues to play an important role in Pakistan’s defence industrial base, with efforts focused on increasing production capacity, adopting modern technologies and expanding opportunities for defence exports.
Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated the ongoing initiatives at the facility and the efforts to develop and manufacture defence products locally.
He also emphasized the importance of strengthening domestic defence production and meeting national requirements through indigenous capabilities.
