Iran Claims 50% Increase in Military Strength, Revolutionary Guards Warn of Surprise Weapons

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed a significant increase in its military capabilities, warning that further escalation of the conflict could see Tehran deploy new weapons and military capabilities that its adversaries do not expect. According to IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi, the force’s military strength has increased by at least 50% compared with previous levels.

The spokesperson said the improvement was not limited to the number of weapons or military assets available. He claimed that Iran had also worked to enhance the quality, performance and effectiveness of its weapons while continuing domestic defence production and expanding the manufacturing of various types of military equipment.

Iran Expands Missile and Drone Production

According to Mohebi, Iran continues to manufacture missiles, drones and other military equipment. He said efforts to expand defence production have been accompanied by measures to improve the operational performance of the country’s weapons systems.

The spokesperson claimed that Iranian weapons had become more capable in terms of range, targeting accuracy and destructive power. He added that the development of new weapons was continuing as part of Tehran’s efforts to further strengthen its military capabilities.

However, the statement did not provide detailed technical information about these improvements, explain how the claimed 50% increase in military strength was measured, or present independently verifiable evidence supporting the figures.

Revolutionary Guards Warn of New Weapons if War Escalates

The IRGC spokesperson warned that if the conflict intensifies further, Iran could reveal military capabilities that would come as a surprise to its adversaries.

According to him, the force possesses weapons and resources that could be deployed if circumstances require their use.

The warning comes amid continuing regional tensions, with Iran’s military strength, missile programme and drone capabilities remaining central issues in regional security discussions.

Tehran presents the development of its defence systems as a matter of national security. Meanwhile, countries opposed to Iran have repeatedly raised concerns about its missile and drone programmes, describing them as potential threats to regional stability.

Tehran Seeks to Demonstrate Military Readiness

The IRGC’s statement appears intended to reinforce the message that Iran is maintaining its military preparedness and expanding its domestic defence industry.

Nevertheless, officials have not disclosed further details about the new weapons, their technical specifications, their operational effectiveness or the circumstances in which they might be used.

The warning signals that Tehran wants to demonstrate its readiness for a possible escalation of hostilities. However, assessing the actual significance of the claims will require independent evidence, technical evaluations of the weapons involved and an examination of their demonstrated performance in operational conditions.

For now, the claimed 50% increase in military strength remains an assertion by an Iranian military spokesperson rather than an independently verified assessment.
