Four friends from Calgary, Alberta, have won a historic $90 million Lotto Max jackpot, securing the largest lottery prize ever awarded in Canadian history.
According to lottery officials, the winning group consists of Adelson Elchico, Lovelin Malvar, Hazeline Ong and Velna Ramirez. The four friends won the jackpot in the October 20 Lotto Max draw, sharing a prize worth $90 million.
The group had remained in regular contact for years and even maintained a joint WhatsApp group called “Manifesting Millions.”
Canada’s Largest-Ever Lottery Jackpot
The $90 million prize represents the largest jackpot ever awarded by any lottery in Canada.
Last month, lottery officials announced that the winning ticket had been sold in Calgary. However, the identities of the lucky winners were not made public until Friday.
The announcement has attracted considerable attention, as four friends have become multi-millionaires through a single lottery ticket.
Friends Discover Their Life-Changing Win
The winners received the news late at night after the draw.
Adelson Elchico said he woke up at around 3 a.m. and checked his email, only to discover that their group’s ticket matched all the winning numbers.
He immediately contacted his friends, triggering a series of messages and phone calls. Initially, none of them could quite believe that they had become millionaires overnight.
The unexpected news marked a life-changing moment for all four winners.
Winners Plan to Support Their Families and Community
The four friends said the prize money would allow them to improve their lives, provide financial support to their families and settle major financial obligations.
Their plans include paying off home mortgages and clearing other debts, giving them greater financial security and freedom.
Elchico became emotional while discussing how he intended to use his share of the winnings. He said he wanted to help not only his family but also people in his community who were facing financial difficulties.
“I think I have to do something for my community and my family. There are many people who need help, and I see this as a great opportunity to support them,” he said.
For the four Calgary friends, the historic jackpot is more than a financial windfall. They also see it as an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of their families and others around them.
