Amount Not Deposited

According to reports, the Supreme Court of India had given Rajpal Yadav two weeks to deposit 200 million Indian rupees (INR 2 crore). However, the amount was not deposited even after the deadline expired.

The court has now ordered the actor to deposit the amount by Tuesday.

Lawyer Also Warned

During the hearing, Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer argued, in reference to the complainant, that the complainant was not poor.

In response to the lawyer’s statement, Justice Joymalya Bagchi reacted strongly and remarked that a lawyer should know when and what to say. The court also made a strong observation that the actor’s place was in jail.

Old Financial Dispute

The matter relates to financial assistance obtained for a film in 2010. The actor had received financial assistance of 500 million Indian rupees (INR 5 crore) for the production of the film.

Later, the cheques issued for repayment of the amount were dishonoured, after which the matter proceeded to legal action.

Court Order

During the hearing, the Supreme Court took a firm position regarding repayment and ordered Rajpal Yadav to deposit 200 million Indian rupees (INR 2 crore) within the specified period.

The actor must now deposit the amount by Tuesday.
