Canada, Britain And France Warn Israel To Stop Military Operations In Gaza Or Face Sanctions

The True Post( Web news)Britain, France and Canada have warned Israel that if it continues its military operations in Gaza and restricts humanitarian access, these countries will take “concrete measures”, which may include sanctions.

In a joint statement issued on May 19, 2025, the three countries strongly condemned Israel’s planned occupation of Gaza and its obstruction of humanitarian aid.
They demanded that Israel immediately cease military operations and allow full humanitarian access, threatening to impose specific sanctions otherwise.
Israel recently allowed nine UN aid trucks into Gaza for the first time in 11 weeks, but British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the move “grossly inadequate.” He called the humanitarian crisis “unbearable” given the growing threat of famine in Gaza.
France has previously imposed sanctions on violent Israeli settlers in the West Bank and is considering further sanctions. Canada halted arms sales to Israel in March 2024, although some Canadian-made weapons were supplied to Israel under US contracts.
These measures are being taken at a time when the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is intensifying, and the international community is increasing pressure on Israel to abide by international humanitarian law and make progress towards a two-state solution.
